The Delivery

"The Delivery" Film Music Soundtrack - Original, Moody Instrumental Music by Taurus M. James

The Delivery is a dark, eerie scary movie music piece.

"dark, eerie scary movie music piece"

This is a dark, eerie scary movie music piece that can be used for a television show theme, movie, film, video game, or commercial advertisement. I envisioned this as a film music piece for a scary movie or horror flick. This short drum-less piece uses sparseness and intentional broken riffs to heighten anticipation and uneasiness while focusing the listener on an eerie melody.

Great fit: playing this track while watching dark videos or images - or movies like Underworld or Batman.

"Welcome Back" Piano - Original, Moody instruMental Music by Taurus M. James

Welcome Back (Piano) is a dark, dramatic music piece with heavy orchestration featuring piano.

"dark, dramatic music piece with heavy orchestration featuring piano."

This is a heavy instrumental music piece that can be used for a television show theme, movie, film video game, or commercial advertisement. I envisioned this as a TV Drama theme song. This shorter version is drumless and focuses the listener on the piano theme, using supporting percussion.

Great fit: playing this track while watching dark videos or images - like Underworld, Gotham or Batman.

Strong emotional piano beat with epic orchestration.

"Blacks" Original Piano Beat - Moody instruMental Music by Taurus M. James

Originally named "Black's Theme", this is one of the original piano beats in my latest Moody instruMental Music collection "Christ Beats" available for you to download here at TaurusBeats.com.

One of my soundtrack pieces, the idea for this song was sparked by the piano "hook" melody (chorus). I wanted a strong, intense feel for this one and builr the orchestration to really carry the trackeven without the lead piano. The piano is all improvisation added after all of the other instrumentation and song structure was completed.

Without the lead piano, this could be a great story rap bat for a skilled storytelling rapper. This could also be a nice fit for a film, video game (end credits) or commercial ad.

Pitch controls in the NNXT also affect the tempo of samples and sample slices. Use this to your advantage when flipping a sample. image for Arise

Arise

Arise is moody instrumental music and a cool song to wake up to. I would call this "wake up music" because it is slow music that has a nice feel to it, and it is strong enough to get your eyes open.

This track features the harp, and electric guitar and strings along with a strong drum beat and bass line. It would fit nicely into a project needing cinematic sounds, or as part of a soundtrack to a film.

My Thoughts On Sampling and Making Sample Flip Beats

When I started making sample flip beats (beats with samples from other artists), it was never my intention to steal from the artists I sampled from. In fact, I thought of the derivative works I created as my personal tributes to the artists. Regardless of what I thought, I am convinced that my actions, specifically in posting the derivative works here on TaurusBeats.com with a price to download, were wrong.

Therefore, all beats, instrumentals, tracks, music, songs, (or whatever you want to call them) that contain samples from other artists will be downloadable at no charge. Also, derivative works that contain samples will not be available for licensing.

I cannot give you permission to use a derivative work that I have created, with a sample that I do not own, in your production. However, I will make the beats/music available for licensing WITHOUT the samples.

image for How To Make Drum Tracks While Making Beats Using Reason

How To Make Drum Tracks While Making Beats Using Reason

Learning how to Make Drum Tracks While Making Beats is a basic skill that you must master as a music producer. Hip-Hop music producers, especially, have to master different ways of laying drums and manipulating drum tracks in order to get the right motion and feel for the music style they want to create when they make beats. Using Propellerhead Reason music making software and my Akai MPD32, I make beats and Moody instruMental Music, and I have learned how to make drum tracks while making beats.

Here is a message from one of my subscribers asking for pointers on the subject of laying drums in Reason while using the Akai MPD32:

My name is Fernando and I've been watching your videos for awhile now, and they've been helpful. I could see and hear that your a lover of soulful music and so I am. I'm new to beat making and I'm just starting out. I also have an Akai mpd32 and the machine is amazing. I can assign the samples to the pad, the only thing that is giving me trouble is laying drums over it. I forget to mention that I'm using Reason 4.0. I have the creativity, the only thing that is holding me back is the technical side. If you have time can you give me a few pointers on what you do, that would be helpful thanks.

I also wanted to point out in one of your videos I thought I seen a Wayne Grudem 'Systematic Theology' book. If it is, its a good read. I'm also a Born Again Christian, so other then music we also share something, and its the Love for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Do you also listen to Christian hip-hop? (Shai linne, Flame, Steven the Levite, Timothy Brindle, etc) I hope to hear from you soon.

Grace & peace,

Fernando

image for Sunny Days

Sunny Days

Piano Instrumental Music, Hip Hop, Original Music

Sunny Days is another one of my piano experiments in making moody instrumental music. (I should just call it piano music, but I'm still working on the whole piano-playing thing.)

My music compositions process was pretty much the same as always. First, I constructed the beat. Then, I developed a chord progression and bass line. Next, I developed melodies through piano improvisation. Finally, I wrapped the whole thing with orchestral instrumentation.

The final result of this piano-featured instrumental music reminds me of an interesting cross between part of the "Sesame Street" theme song and "Can You Stand The Rain" by New Edition (produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis).

My Favorite Part is the piano. The different expressions I came up with in the two verses are pretty cool, and the way I changed the mood in each verse is nice, too. Like a lot of my moody instrumental music, this song has a big ending that contrasts the beginning verse. You gotta listen to the whole song to get the changes.

I named this song "Sunny Days" because the music reminds me that storms and cloudy days don't last forever. I want to encourage people who listen to this moody instrumental to really appreciate the sunny days in life. Troubles don't last always. Dark storms give way to "Sunny Days".

- a scene of uproar and confusion.

I don't know why I named this beat Bedlam. I think it was because there was an OU/OSU football game being advertised at the time I was making it.

Anyway, this experimental Hip-Hop beat has a little bit of a feeling of uproar and confusion. The beat drives hard and the instrumentation at the end gives it a good accent.

How To Chop Samples with ReCycle and Make Beats Using Reason

Learning how to Chop Samples with Propellerhead ReCycle and Make Beats Using PropellerheadReason can be difficult if you are just starting out as a music producer. Beginners often find that learning how to chop and flip samples to be overwhelming because there is no single, right way to do it. For example, Hip-Hop music producers and beat makers have many different ways of chopping samples and manipulating sample slices in order to get the right fit and feel for the music style they want to create when they make beats. Determining what to use to chop samples, HOW to chop samples, and WHAT software or hardware to use to flip samplesm all depends on the music producer.

Learning how to Chop Samples with ReCycle and Make Beats Using Reason can be difficult if you are just starting out as a music producer. Hip-Hop music producers and beat makers have different ways of chopping samples and manipulating sample slices in order to get the right fit and feel for the music style they want to create when they make beats. Using Propellerhead Recycle, Reason music making software and my Akai MPD32, I chop samples and make sample flip beats and Moody instruMental Music, and I have learned how to chop samples with ReCycle while making beats in Reason.

Here is a message from one of my subscribers asking for pointers on the subject of chopping samples in Recycle and using Reason to make beats:

I'm a big fan of your beats man and I've been watching all your videos here on youtube and I use them as motivation. I've just started making beats and I use pretty much the same gear and software you do. I have a question for you though and I hope you can help. When I chop samples with recycle I always get this noise at the end of every chop almost like an echo noise so I was just wondering if you know a way to remove that noise because I noticed your samples don't have that noise?!? Also for the bass which one of the Reason applications do you use? I hope u can help! Thanks in Advance.

From Subscriber:

I like what your doing with Reason along with the MPD32.

I've been working with Pro Tools for a while and I recently got interested in making beats and purchased Reason which is very user friendly.

I'm kind of having trouble with sampling and I was wondering how you set the MPD32 pads to trigger and work for Reason NN-XT, if you could please get back to me as soon as possible I would greatly appreciate it.

Question from a Subscriber:

Hey, wsup man. I really apprecilove what you are doing man. We need more people like you in the world, that are willing to share the knowledge to enhance people power.

After watching ur videos it really inspired me to get into this producing , because i went to school for sound engineering and tried to get in the industry, but i realized i can just do my own thing and let the industry come to me.

I needed some help with getting my samples to record on reason. I am using the nnxt advanced sampler. For my drum pad i use the Trigger finger and for the keyes i have the oxygen 8.

When i trigger the sample how do I get the sample to play, cause when i trigger the sample i have to hold the pad down for the whole sample to play.

I been tryin to figure that out for like 1 month now. If you can help me it would be greatly appreciloved. Thanks Brotha

Reason - WAV sample slicing tutorial with NN-XT

Question from a subscriber:

Here is a nice and simple tutorial I found on how to slice WAV / AIF samples in Propellerheads Reason NN-XT advanced sampler, when you don't have Recycle. Requires Reason 2.0 and higher.

Again, this is a good tutorial on how to "chop samples" inside Reason's NN-XT - no external editor is used in this example. All "chops" are done on Reason!

This may be a little advanced for complete newbies, but follow along and you will be ahead of the game in using the feature-rich Reason NN-XT advanced sampler.
