The Story Behind The Music

All of my music comes from my faith walk with Jesus Christ. I was not always a Christ-follower. in fact, I used to be a follower of the Nation of Islam (Elijah Muhammad, Malcolm X, Louis Farrakhan). Since my conversion, this moody instrumental music has become the soundtrack to my life story. That's why I call it Life Story Music.

I started making Christian rap, Gospel rap, Holy Hip Hop music by re-writing verses I used to do as freestyles during my days as "Kid Kikit". Before I started making beats and producing music, I would record my vocals, using the "two-cassette-recorder method", over popular rap instrumentals of that time. It wasn't until 2003 that I got the chance to record my vocals over beats I made.

"Born To Die"," Just Been Schooled", "How We Do It" and "Rock and Roll" were recordede at Dub Dub Records studio in Ogden, Utah, shortly after I completed recording the "Faith Walk" album with my band, The Upper Room. i produced the music for all four songs.

"Born To Die" is my life story as I saw it at the time. I narrate my story using the "riddle of the sphinx" as my guide for the story line. The story is sad with a twist at the very end. The beat is one of my first featuring me playing the piano.
