Look At Us Now

"Look At Us Now" Original, organic Beat - Moody instruMental Music by Taurus M. James

Look At Us Now is a smooth, laid-back, reflective original beat featuring a light piano, bass and and strings over a lo-fi drums. Think "EPMD" on this one.

"Smooth, laid-back, reflective beat like EPMD."

I was thinling about the people I grew up with in SouthEast Washington DG when I made this song. I was thinking that maybe one day I would rap my own verses over it. The groove is laid back with a sparse piano and strings in the verses, along with a simple bass line that helps keep everything steady. More strings and horns (trumpets) are brought in during the chorus. The song is steady throughout and serves a a background track for a vocalist, or just background music or lounge music. The rhythmic beat  is solid and smooth and jhas ust enough bounce to make you want to nod your head a little.

I love playing this track while watching  videos about the universe, space, galaxies, etc.

This is another CMA Beat,

I was definitely on some New York stuff when I made this beat. Rough beat with some smooth orchestration to make things mellow. Cool track to vibe to.

I wrote some lyrics to go with it. Just a little something reflecting on how far my friends and I have gone in life. That's why I call the track, Look At Us Now.

Englishman

Sometimes, I like to take songs from my favorite artists and make something different with my sound. "Englishman" is a great example.

I spent a couple of hours trying to re-create the original "Englishman in New York" by Sting. I was satisfied with everything except that saxophone! (Sax is always a hard one to deal with in the digital realm.) After I got a decent re-creation, I slowed the track down from 104 bpm to 96 bpm and created the beat.

When I "re-create" parts of existing songs, I actually go through and manually re-create each part that I can hear, as close to the original as I can. It takes awhile, especially since my "musicianship" is not the best and I only know how to re-create "by ear" (what I hear). In all, it is a great exercise in listening and focusing on specific instruments, sounds and parts within a song when so much is going on within it.

This is another one of my "for fun" tracks. I can only hope that Sting wouldn't be angry if he heard it. :->
