On The Surface..
...All appears to be fine. However, a tempest churns deep in my soul.
This describes me in my younger days, especially when dealing with the pressures and drama in my life. I am much better today than I was when I wrote/composed this song.
I was reflecting on the many times I had to give the appearance that things were fine in my life, when they really weren't. The song is my expression of my feelings at the time, but i wasn't trying to "say" anything in it.
Like many of the songs I have here, On The Surface is more of an expression of my own heelings rather than a commentary on anything. Simply put, this was my mood at the tims.
Stirred Not Shaken
I added On The Surface to the Stirred Not Shaken music collection because I made the music around the same time. Also, the music together tells a story of my feelings and thoughts at a time when I sufferered losses.
The losses didn't overtake me, but the experiences were significant enough that I expressed them musically, indirectly through my moods.
The collection of music in Stirred Not SHaken puts forward my resolve that no matter what happens, I press foward. Things I see and experinece in this life journey may leave me "stirred" within but not shaken.
