Moody Grooves is a collection of my Moody instruMental Music with an ambitious goal - create wide-ranging moody music with the same beat. The vision is to have a collection of musical movements that are like chapters in a book.
This collection is an experiment to test my ability to vary the musical moods while keeping a major foundational part constant. I wanted to see and hear what I could come up with when I just kept the beat the same for different tracks. Some great music is what I created in the end!
With a mix of piano-featured, beat-intense and dramatically-orchestrated tracks, this collection has great tracks that can be used for background music for thinking and reflection. It also has some smooth grooves to relax to along with some intense tracks to stir the emotions.

Piano Instrumental Music, Hip Hop, Original Music
My music compositions process was pretty much the same as always. First, I constructed the beat. Then, I developed a chord progression and bass line. Next, I developed melodies through piano improvisation. Finally, I wrapped the whole thing with orchestral instrumentation.
The final result of this piano-featured instrumental music reminds me of an interesting cross between part of the "Sesame Street" theme song and "Can You Stand The Rain" by New Edition (produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis).
My Favorite Part is the piano. The different expressions I came up with in the two verses are pretty cool, and the way I changed the mood in each verse is nice, too. Like a lot of my moody instrumental music, this song has a big ending that contrasts the beginning verse. You gotta listen to the whole song to get the changes.
I named this song "Sunny Days" because the music reminds me that storms and cloudy days don't last forever. I want to encourage people who listen to this moody instrumental to really appreciate the sunny days in life. Troubles don't last always. Dark storms give way to "Sunny Days".

Make Beats with Reason: Layering Samples - "Better" Sample Flip Beat
I made this video showing how I chopped and flipped the sample from Darwin Hobbs' "Better Is One Day" from his Worshipper album. In this video, I show how I layer samples in the NNXT device. The beat I'm working on in this video is called "Better" .

This version of Hood Butterflies has no samples and was customized for use by a German company.
I'll never understand why you traded your life for mine, but I'm so grateful that you did.
Make Beats with Reason: Making the Sample Flip Beat "Love Avalanche" (Part 1 of 2)
I get inspiration for my Moody instruMental Music from many places. Sometimes, the most basic thing triggers the creativity in me. This video series shows an example.
This time, I was inspired after listening to one of my favorite songs by Hillsong United. I then set out to make another Moody instruMental Music creation. This is one of my "sample flip" beats. In this video, I show a little about how I take samples from an existing song and then rearrange ("flip") the samples into different patterns before "wrapping" the flipped sample patterns with various instrumentation I perform.
Make Beats with Reason: Making the Sample Flip Beat "Love Avalanche" (Part 2 of 2)
This is the finished "Love Avalanche" sample flip beat. I decided to add this to my "Messiah" Moody instruMental Music collection.
This is one of my Moody instruMental Music creations (sample flip beat) done using Propellerhead's Reason 6.5 music software, the Yamaha DJX MIDI keyboard as a keyboard controller.

It's an awesome thing when you know that you are loved. Even when everything seems to be completely messed up or destroyed all around you, knowing that you are loved gives you enough to take one more step and take one more breath.
To all of you who have taken the time to check out this moody instrumental music, I hope you know that you are loved.
Make Beats with Reason 6: Country Music Guitar Sample Flip - Really???
I get inspiration for my Moody instruMental Music from many places. Sometimes, the most basic thing triggers the creativity in me. This video series shows another example of my flipping a sample - this time, a country music guitar..
I was listening to some music today while developing a website and I heard a country-music-style guitar. inspired, I immediately powered up Reason 6 and started creating this Moody instruMental Music creation.

This is one of my experimental piano/orchestrated tracks with more of a soulful sorrow that moves to a bit of brightness toward the end.
As much as they hurt, the thorns in my life remind me that I am still feeling.
Okay, Diary is a break from the concept of this collection because it does not have the same beat or beat structure as other songs in the collection. This is one of those "spur-of-the-moment" tracks that I created after hearing the original by Alicia Keys. I just wanted to see if I could lay some of my own keys on the track.
Hey, if I don't do these experimental piano beats, I'll never find out what I can do.
In this video, I talk about using the Yamaha DJX MIDI Keyboard as a MIDI Controller for Propellerhead Reason 6.5 music software. I explain why I like using the DJX as a controller and how I have it connected to my PC. I also explain how I setup two different NNXT Advanced Sampler devices in Reason to allow me to compose piano parts separately. Since I am not a pianist, I have to create my "left-hand" parts (Chords) and "right-hand" parts (Melodies) separately and I use two different devices to manipulate the sounds of each part independently.
Even Still Part 1 of 5
My idea of sampling involves wrapping the re-arranged pieces of sampled music in heavy instrumentation and orchestration. Check out this video I made showing how I use sampled music to create epic moody instrumental music.
How to Make Beats: Wrapping the Samples in Sample Flip Beats
Watch how I make sample flip beats and instrumental music using Propellerhead's Reason software, the Akai MPD32 and the Yamaha DJX MIDI keyboard. This video takes you into my thought process about sampling, chopping and flipping sample, and I give you tips on how to make music.
